HSC Awards

At this time the Hespeler Skating Club would like to recognize a few of its members and their achievements for the 2016-2017 skating season.

Figure Skating is divided into several disciplines. Each one includes several levels. Mya Napier has achieved the GOLD level Pin and Certificate in Interpretive Freeskating. She is a hard worker and dedicated skater. Later in the show she will demonstrate her tremendous talent in this area of figure Skating. Congratulations Mya!

The Joanne Hillis Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to an individual who gives of their time and talents to make our club successful. This year’s recipient is Ying Jiang. Mr. Jiang is an enthusiastic volunteer with our club. He is always willing to help however he can behind the scenes and this year, he came out to work with our CanPower skaters. Next season he will be taking on the role as Website co-ordinator. Thank you Mr Jiang for all you do.

This year’s Wednesday Canskater of the Year award goes to Justine Scherer.
Justine has been in our canskate program for a few years now. She is determined to succeed and works hard to do so. Justine always has a positive attitude and a willingness to help others. Great job Justine!

Cheryl Maltby Memorial Coaches Award goes to Clararose Synder.
Clararose’s love for skating shines through every minute she is on the ice, from her bright blue skate laces to her quick smile.. She is always working hard to acquire new skills and looks forward to learning new things. She is a leader and supports the other skaters on her session. She has come a long way in the past two seasons with our club. Congratulations Clararose!

Our Final Award is the President’s Passion of Skating Award. This goes to Cassie Wilkie. Cassie is a well rounded skater who has accomplished many goals this past season both in and out of skating. She is an active member of the Hespeler club, participating in club events, test days, competitions and helping out Canskaters as a program assistant. She is a former Acro and Hip Hop dancer and competes on both a basketball and soccer team. This year she is also participating in the theatre production of Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat. Cassie is a dedicated skater, often the first one on the ice and last one off. She has a quick smile and a goofy laugh! Congratulations Cassie.
